Dear Weston Middle School Families:
Please remember that student drop-off and pick-up must take place in the rear of the middle school during normal arrival and dismissal times. We have noticed that students are being dropped off in front of the middle school or in the high school parking lots. This creates a safety hazard as buses are unloading and loading students or our high school students are entering and exiting their parking spots.
Our winter concert season begins this week. The band concert is Tuesday, December 10 and the orchestra concert is Thursday, December 12. The choral concert is next week. All of our concerts begin at 7 pm and are held in the Weston High School Auditorium. Here is a link to the district performing arts calendar on the website.
All of the Lost and Found items have been moved to the main lobby from now until December 20. Please come and claim lost items during school hours.
Person to Person Coat Drive The Weston High School Person to Person Club is sponsoring a coat drive from now until the holiday break (December 20). Coats may be dropped in the bin in the school lobby.
Chinese visitors We are so pleased to welcome back our Chinese colleagues for the first time since COVID. Guangdong Province is scheduled to bring its third delegation of 25 educators selected to be the next generation of education leaders to Connecticut this week. They will visit Weston on Wednesday, December 11. After a welcoming ceremony at Weston High School they will tour each of the other schools on campus.
The American Math Competition will be held at WMS on January 27th, 2025 after school during Math Counts. Any student is welcome to participate! You do not need to be part of the Math Counts team. The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute competition designed for students in grade 8 and below. The competition focuses on middle school mathematics topics, including counting and probability, estimation, proportional reasoning, elementary geometry (including the Pythagorean Theorem), spatial visualization, and interpreting graphs and tables. Some of the later questions may touch on beginning algebra topics, such as linear or quadratic functions and coordinate geometry. Here is a link to some previous tests!! Please have your son/daughter use this form by December 20 to show their interest in taking the test. When the test date gets closer there will be additional registration information!
