We are so excited to announce our Short Wharf Theatre program’s fall schedule! With three amazing opportunities, young thespians can sign up to participate in one or all productions. The Short Wharf Theatre program is open to all middle school students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade!
Missed Rehearsals – Please Note
Short Wharf has a strict attendance policy for rehearsals. Regular attendance at rehearsals is a must in
order for the ensemble to progress appropriately. Please schedule appointments around our weekly
schedule and list any potential conflicts on the attached conflict sheet.
Only illness that keeps you from attending school will be considered as an excused absence.
Some last minute absences are unavoidable. If you will be absent, please communicate your absence to
our producers, Amy MacRae at Amy_MacRae@yahoo.com or Marisa Aulenbach at
meaulenbach@gmail.com.
Students are allowed 3 excused absences. If an actor has 3 or more unexcused rehearsals or misses any
rehearsal during the no-conflict weeks, he/she may have to be let go from the production.
The last two weeks of rehearsal are Mandatory—no other conflicts (even regularly-scheduled
conflicts) are permitted.
Required Fees
A $100 fee is required at time of parent orientation. This covers your costume rental/cleaning fee, cast
party, tech/dress weekend snacks, and cast sweatshirt. (Additional costs could include dvd.)
Volunteer Opportunities
Our production is as successful as the amount of parents volunteering. An email will go out within the
next week with a signup link. Please read the descriptions and contact producers, Amy MacRae at
Amy_MacRae@yahoo.com or Marisa Aulenbach at meaulenbach@gmail.com with any questions.
Backstage Help: Help with everything from staffing the dressing rooms to monitoring the backstage
waiting room and helping with props and costumes.
Costumes: Assist the costumer in purchasing costumes and fitting children in the weeks leading up to the
performance. Sewing experience is helpful but not a must.
Set Decoration: Assist with everything from building to painting and decorating sets. We usually hold set
build days during the weekends. An email will be sent once we have build days from our carpenter.
Props: Work with the Director and Stage Manager on essential props that the actors will need on stage.
Make up/ Hair: Members of this committee will work with costumes to complete the actors’ look for the
show.
Tickets: Volunteers for the days of the show will sell and organize will call.
Publicity: Publicize the show by submitting articles for local media (The Forum, Weston Patch, Moms of
Weston, etc.) and placing yard signs and flyers around town.
Program Coordinator/ Ad Sales: Committee members will head out into the community to solicit
advertising in our program. A committee chair is also essential to coordinate with our graphic designer.
Refreshments: We will need members of this committee to help purchase and work at the refreshment
table. You may also organize donations of baked goods from parents.
Cast Party: This committee is responsible for coordinating food for the cast party Sunday right after the
show closes. The cast party is held in the High School Cafeteria.
Rehearsal – Homework Helpers: Homework helpers may be needed for full cast rehearsals to help
students while they do homework and wait to be called to rehearse.
