Dear Weston Middle School Families:
Each year our staff works in collaboration with building and district administrators to develop our school and district improvement plans. The district plan will be presented at Monday evening’s Board of Education Meeting. I look forward to sharing our Weston Middle School Improvement Plan with you at an upcoming WMS PTO meeting. Our teachers develop their own professional goals which align with our school improvement plan.
Weston Middle School has a long tradition of allowing students and staff to dress up on October 31 in recognition of Halloween. Students are not required to participate. If they do wish to come in costume, we ask that they adhere to these costume guidelines. These same guidelines are in effect for the 6th Grade Halloween Social scheduled for this Friday, October 25.
The PE department would appreciate your support in reminding your child to wear sneakers on PE days. We have noticed some students wearing Crocs, and with the arrival of cooler temperatures, are now seeing an increase in boots as well as winter type slippers and clogs. Proper footwear is important to ensure all students can engage safely in all activities. Please contact your child's PE teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
Short Wharf Musical: We are pleased to announce this year’s middle school musical: The Music Man, Jr! All students who wish to try out must sign up for a time slot on October 21 or 22 after school in the chorus room. All students wishing to be part of the cast must also attend the dance portion of the call back audition on October 24. Students must wear sneakers for the dance audition.
SGA Update The Student Government Association is sponsoring a medical supply drive beginning on Wednesday, October 16 to benefit the people of Floreana Island, Ecuador. Mrs. Nolle-Berg and Mrs. Welsh traveled there as part of their studies in the Galapagos over the summer and learned of serious needs in this very small island community. Our WMS SGA students have put together a drive to provide Floreana Island's only doctor basic medical supplies to care for the population of approximately 150 residents. Please consider making a donation of goods to support our students' international outreach. Fliers with suggested items will go home with students on October 15. Please reach out to our SGA Advisors, Mrs. Nolle-Berg or Mr. Marone, with any questions.
Career Day for our 8th graders is not until Friday, March 28, 2025 but we are already planning to make sure that it is a successful experience for everyone. We rely on parents and community members to help us in this endeavor. If you are interested in sharing your career path with our students, please reach out to our 8th grade counselor, Lauren Davi via email laurendavi@westonps.org.
