Dear Weston Middle School Families:
The upcoming week will be a busy one at Weston Middle School. On Tuesday, Tammy Thornton, from the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority ( HRRA) will speak to each grade level for approximately 40-45 minutes about how to recycle correctly in school and at home. She will use photos of our existing recycling bins to help explain the process to our students. These “Trash Talks” are sponsored by our WMS Green Team and help us promote sustainability.
Our sixth graders will take their first field trip of the year on Thursday, October 10. They will be participating in team building activities developed by Mountain Workshop at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.
Students have an early dismissal on Friday, October 11. The middle school will dismiss at 11:45 am. We do not serve lunch on planned early dismissal days.
Attendance Policy I’d like to remind families about our school attendance policy. Regular attendance is an important component of student success in school. Parents can excuse the first nine absences with no documentation required. In addition to these nine absences, state law provides for two mental health days per school year. Attention 8th grade parents! Please create an account here to develop a yearbook ad to congratulate your student on their successful completion of middle school. You must login to your own account to access the ad developer. Please complete your personalized message by October 15, 2024.
Team Websites We encourage you to visit your child’s Team Website for information specific to your child’s grade-level academic team. On this site you will find the homework calendar which lists assignments as well as other useful information. Here is a link to the team websites.
Panorama School Climate Survey Please take a few minutes to complete our family survey. Your honest feedback will help us review our programs and practices to ensure that all members of our community feel physically, socially and emotionally safe in our schools. If you have more than one child in Weston Public SChools, please complete one survey for each child. Here is the link which will be active this Friday, October 11.
